Sponsorship for “Metros - Future Rail for Sydney” Symposium

by Webmaster

Recently, the New South Wales Government committed to develop a new major metro rail system from the CBD to the North-West of Sydney. This metro will introduce new technologies into the Sydney transport network.

Aims of the Symposium

As a way of introducing Metro technology, and in line with its objectives of rail capability development, and to bring awareness to the wider community of the benefits of a metro transit system (integrated into the built environment and existing transport network) the RTSA will be organise a conference on Metros in Sydney on 12 November 2008. The RTSA’s role will be as a facilitator, bringing evidence of metro developments from overseas and Australia, and debating these systems in the context of their environment and applicability to Sydney.

Audience

As metros are a new technology in NSW, the RTSA will target emerging interest from the general public, those thinking of a career in metro rail, and existing rail engineers. Because of the nature of this emerging market, pricing will be around the $300 mark. The expected attendance is 150 delegates. This broadly-based approach is seen as necessary in order to build wide community awareness of these technologies.

Sponsorship

As a volunteer and non-profit organisation, the RTSA commits significant personal time and effort to these initiatives. In order to cover the costs of travel and accommodation of quality speakers and maintain affordable symposium prices, the RTSA relies on some modest financial contribution from industry and government agencies. Note: The RTSA does not pay speakers for their time and effort – this is given up freely by the speakers.
