A 3-day Study Tour of Railway Engineering will be held in March 2012 to examine the extensive enhancement works currently underway to the coal chain in the Hunter Valley of NSW. The study will include site visits to Control Centres, a locomotive maintenance shop and coal loading facilities at a mine and the port. A number of speakers will also provide details of the planned upgrading projects to rail and mine infrastructure in the valley together with the latest technologies being used to improve performance of the track and reduce fuel consumption on locomotives. A highlight of the STORE will be a one day 2-car Diesel train trip from Maitland to Ulan and Gulgong and return, which will also allow delegates to see the rail construction works and the extensive coal train traffic first-hand.
DATES: Friday 23 to Sunday 25 March 2012
TIME: From 1030 Friday till 1800 Sunday. Various attendance options are available for delegates.
