The RTSA administers the annual Wheel-Rail Interface Award on behalf of the originators and sponsors, being; the Organising Committee of the 7th International Conference on Contact Mechanics and Wear of Wheel/Rail Systems (CM2006). The award is offered to the author of an outstanding final year undergraduate thesis or a post graduate thesis that is related to the contact conditions between wheel and rail and the consequences of these conditions in terms of material behaviour and damage modes.
If an award is made it comprises a cash prize of $4,000 and a commemorative plaque together with one-year free membership to the RTSA.
