The recipient of the 2010 Individual Award is Mr. Vince O’Rourke OM in recognition of his major contribution to the Australian rail industry during a distinguished career which began with the, then, NSWGR where he rose through the ranks to the position of Group General Manager Freight in the State Rail Authority of NSW.
2009 Individual Award Winner
Mr. Graham Tew has been awarded the RTSA Individual Award for 2009 in recognition of his outstanding contribution, initially to the work of the BHP-Melbourne Research Laboratories, and latterly to the Institute of Railway Technology at Monash University.
2008 Annual Individual Award Winner
Dr. Martin Murray
Dr. Martin Murray is the recipient of the RTSA Individual Award for 2008 in recognition of his significant contribution over a period of more than thirty years towards the education and training of rail infrastructure engineers through his work at the James Cook University in Townsville, the University of Central Queensland in Rockhampton and the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane.

Mr. David Ferris has been awarded the RTSA Individual Award for 2006, which is presented in recognition of the outstanding achievement of an individual in the railway industry.

Mr John Hoare
The winner of the above Award is Mr John Hoare, Managing Director of Concord Consulting.
John has had a distinguished career spanning some 45 years in the railway industry, filling many and varied engineering, executive and advisory roles, mainly in Western Australia but latterly with wider national involvement.
