Former RTSA Young Railway Engineer receives global recognition

The 2008  RTSA Young Railway Engineer Dr Sakdirat Kaewunruen has just received a  top PhD thesis award from the National Research Council of Thailand. He  received the first prize for the Engineering and Industrial Research category.  A fellow University of Wollongong (UOW)  Mathematics Ph D student  Dr Duangkamon Baowan was awarded the first prize for the Natural Science and Mathematics category.


Dr Kaewunruen is a joint winner of the Distinguished PhD Thesis award in the Engineering and Industrial Research category awarded together with a student from the University of California at Los Angeles.

2009 Individual Award Winner

Mr. Graham Tew has been awarded the RTSA Individual Award for 2009 in recognition of his outstanding contribution, initially to the work of the BHP-Melbourne Research Laboratories, and latterly to the Institute of Railway Technology at Monash University.

THE PAT HANNABERRY COLLECTION

P. J. ‘Pat’ Hannaberry O.B.E. was Commissioner of the former Commonwealth Railways from 1948 to 1960. He held the position during the transformation of the operations of the Trans Australia Railway through dieselisation.

Pat Hannaberry’s collection of books, numbering approximately 65, is being offered for sale by tender by his nephew’s family.
